Hyundai ELEXIO Confirmed for Australia

Hyundai Australia has confirmed it will introduce an all-new electric SUV called ELEXIO, with local sales set to begin in Q1 2026.

Positioned between KONA Electric and IONIQ 5, ELEXIO expands Hyundai’s growing EV portfolio with a mid-size option aimed squarely at families and everyday drivers looking for space, range and value — without stepping into premium pricing territory.

One Grade, Clear Intent

ELEXIO will launch in Australia as a single Elite trim, priced at $59,990 drive-away, simplifying the buying experience while offering a strong level of standard equipment.

Power comes from a 160kW / 310Nm electric motor driving the front wheels, paired with a substantial 88kWh battery. Hyundai claims a WLTP driving range of up to 546km, positioning ELEXIO as a practical long-distance EV for Australian conditions.

Built on Hyundai’s 400V E-GMP platform, ELEXIO supports DC fast charging from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 38 minutes, making it well suited to both urban use and longer road trips.

Designed as a Family-First EV

Hyundai describes ELEXIO as a clean-sheet EV design, inside and out. Externally, it adopts a smooth, minimalist silhouette with layered horizontal design elements at both the front and rear, giving it a wide, confident SUV stance.

Five exterior colours will be offered:

  • Crystal White (standard)

  • Medium Grey

  • Pebble Blue

  • Dragon Red

  • Phantom Black

Inside, the cabin leans heavily into space, simplicity and usability. A leather-appointed interior is standard, available in Obsidian Black or Dove Grey, with highlights including:

  • Heated and ventilated front seats

  • Dual wireless phone chargers

  • Over-the-air (OTA) update capability

  • Bluelink Connected Car Services

  • Digital Key 2 (NFC smartphone entry and start)

Practicality is clearly a focus, with 506 litres of cargo space available behind the rear seats, expanding to 1,540 litres with the seats folded.

New Connect-C Infotainment Debuts

ELEXIO will be the first Hyundai in Australia to debut the brand’s all-new Connect-C infotainment system.

Running on Android Automotive OS, the system features a striking 27-inch ultra-thin 4K panoramic display, integrating infotainment, vehicle controls and system settings into a single, seamless interface.

A Head-Up Display is also standard, projecting navigation, media and vehicle information directly into the driver’s line of sight.

Tuned for Australian Roads

Importantly, ELEXIO benefits from local chassis tuning, with Hyundai engineers working alongside the Australian ride and handling team to tailor the suspension and steering specifically for local conditions.

The program involved extensive testing across a wide range of Australian road surfaces, with bespoke tuning applied to springs, dampers, anti-roll bars and steering calibration — aiming to strike the right balance between comfort, stability and control.

Hyundai Motor Company Australia COO Gavin Donaldson said ELEXIO plays a key role in the brand’s electrification push.

“ELEXIO will offer an ideal blend of size, space, efficiency and value-for-money when it arrives early next year,” Donaldson said.
“We look forward to welcoming more Australians to the Hyundai SUV family while continuing our commitment to electrification and intelligent mobility solutions.”

The Big Picture

ELEXIO slots neatly into Hyundai’s EV line-up as a sensible, family-focused electric SUV — prioritising range, space and everyday usability over headline performance theatrics.

Final specifications and additional details will be confirmed closer to its early 2026 launch, but on paper, ELEXIO shapes up as a compelling new option in the rapidly growing mid-size EV SUV segment.
